Support Dozens Of Local Students At Downtown Pleasantonâ€™s 1st Wednesday Street Party

It’s no secret Pleasanton is home to incredibly talented students. At the May 6th 1st Wednesday Street Party students will showcase their work in the areas of science, technology, journalism, music, theatre and art.
SCIENCE AND INNOVATION FAIR - The Pleasanton Downtown Association has partnered with teachers at Amador Valley and Foothill High Schools to create the first Science and Innovation Fair at 1st Wednesday. 14 booths will line St. Mary Street at Main Street from 6-9pm. See a three foot robotic submarine built by students dive deep into a pool. Engineering students will show off their incredible work on 3D printers. Meet Janel Lee of Amador Valley High School who was named a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search for her research on HDR Imaging. Then get up close and personal with all manner of scientific phenomena through the interactive “Fun With Science,” offered by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
MUSIC - Music will fill the air at 1st Wednesdays with students performing up and down Main Street. The Amador Ukulele Club will perform next to Milfleur at 728 Main Street. Find the Amador Valley’s Improv group and band performing at ArtBlock on W. Angela Street. The Foothill Jazz Band will perform on St. Mary Street from 7:30-9pm. Support Fairlands Elementary students as they perform strings outside of the Museum on Main Street at 603 Main Street and a band performance at the intersection of Main and Abbie Streets.
DANCING – Put on your dancing shoes and come down to St. Mary Street. The Amador Valley Bhangra and Bollywood Clubs will be teaching dance moves from 6-7:30pm. Amador Valley and Foothill’s Black Student Union will be on hand to perform and teach modern African dance.
ART AND JOURNALISM- Amador Valley Art Students will set up gallery walls on St. Mary Street at Main Street with their drawings, paintings and photography. Read articles from InFlight Foothill Journalism and Amador Valley High School’s Journalism students also on St. Mary Street.
The first 1st Wednesday Street Party of the season is on May 6th from 6-9pm in downtown Pleasanton.
